The following endorsements can be added to qualified horses for an additional premium.
Major Medical and Surgical
Provides coverage for the cost of medical & surgical procedures including diagnostics as a result of accident, illness or disease. Limits of $5000, $7500, or $10,000 are available. In some cases, stacking of these limits is available in order to provide you with maximum protection.
Full Loss of Use
In the event your horse becomes permanently unable to perform its insured use as result of an accident, illness or disease, this coverage pays up to 75% of the insured value.
Loss of Use - External Injury Only
If your horse is permanently unable to perform its insured use due to a visible injury caused by an external, accidental and violent means, this coverage pays up to 75% of the insured value.
Guaranteed Extension or Guaranteed Renewal endorsements
These highly recommended endorsements vary by company. In general, they extend coverage into the following year on a sickness or injury that was reported during the initial policy term. This can eliminate pre-existing condition exclusions that might otherwise be added to the policy.
OTHER COVERAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST INCLUDE:
If you are a farm owner, special policies can be written to "package" all your coverages. This can include your house, stables, tack, machinery, stable liability and care, custody or control coverage all under one policy. This will help eliminate potential gaps in your coverage.
When you transport horses for others, you need a commercial auto policy. This can be written in conjunction with your farm policy on any type of vehicle.
Commercial Equine Liability
This coverage is very important if you perform any commercial equestrian activities such as boarding, instruction, training, breeding, etc. Coverage is provided if you are sued by a third party who is injured or whose property is damaged. The policy covers defense costs and pays claims for which you are legally liable up to the policy limits.
Equine Personal Liability
In the event your horse injures a third party or damages their property, this provides coverage for defense fees as well as pays claims for which you are legally liable during the policy period.
Care, Custody & Control
Consider this coverage if you board, train or breed horses for others. If one of those horses is injured or dies while in your care and you are found negligent, this policy will provide for the medical care or replacement cost of the horse up to the policy limits. Defense costs are also covered. Transit coverage for the entire continental U.S. and Canada is available.
Riding Clubs & Associations
Groups wishing to protect themselves can obtain liability coverage with a club or association policy. This coverage helps protect your group if you are faced with a lawsuit by a third party. Defense fees as well as claims for property damage and/or bodily injury are covered.
Directors & Officers Liability
Provides coverage for claims and defense fees resulting from any negligent act, error or omission by the board of directors.
